Pike Place Market in Seattle is definitely worth the hype, y’all.
If you go make sure to check out the garden overlooking the Great Wheel and stop by the Chukar Cherries stand (the Amaretto Rainiers are so good). Looking for a latte? Storyville Coffee is the place to go.
Let’s face it, subscription boxes can be super expensive. That’s why I always find reviews helpful when trying to decide whether to go for it and spend the money.
After watching some reviews for FabFitFun, I decided to try it out… but here’s the hesitation, it costs $49.99.
– Each box comes with full size lifestyle, fitness, beauty products
– The boxes are seasonal, so you only get four per year
– Each box always come with samples/gift cards
– Each box varies as far as retail value, but it’s typically around $200
Watch the video to see whether I think it’s even worth the money:

Y’all, dressing rooms are the WORST. They like to tell you everything you don’t want to hear… like, wait. I don’t look super skinny and effortless like Taylor Swift?
This got me thinking, it definitely wasn’t like this years ago. In fact, years ago I was relatively happy with my body. Size two, fit basically everything because my weight didn’t fluctuate like every damn day, and knew my size because like I said… it just didn’t change much.
Now, my size is literally all over the place and a lot has changed.
I’m definitely not trying to insinuate I’m over-weight, just simply commenting on how much can change in the span of just a couple years.
Life gets in the way of eating well and working out every day. I used to work at a gym, so it was super easy to finish a shift and go hit the elliptical or a class… now I have a full time job with weird hours and have trouble finding motivation to get up and work out.
And thus, dressing rooms have become the enemy. I seem to get it in my head I look a different way, or should be a smaller size and then I try on a skirt too many and realize my hips are much wider than they once were, and suddenly realize this is what it’s like. That’s definitely not to say I’ve given up, that’s just to say I think I’m coming to terms… while trying to change them at the same time.
Are we really that surprised it’s taken me more than a week to post my June favorites (hello almost middle of July)?
This past month I’ve had a bunch of various favorites ranging from glittery sunscreen to a new mascara and everything in between…
This Benefit cheekathon palette is essentially the best thing I’ve ever bought.
It comes with 5 blushes/bronzers which typically range about $30 each… and the whole set cost $58 ($145 value). That’s a pretty amazing deal especially since each powder is full size.
It has taken me forever to find a face powder that is as great as this one.
This is the Make Up For Ever pro finish pressed powder ($36) in the shade 117 because I’m pale af.
This stuff acts as a great setting powder or light/medium coverage when going without liquid foundations.
The Tarte Tarteist lash paint ($23) has become a top contender for my mascara favorite along with Benefit’s they’re real.
This does a really good job of lengthening your lashes and giving them a bit of a volume kick too. Really, what more can you ask for.
Urban Decay’s 24/7 glide on eye pencils ($20) are life.
These are in the colors ‘Corrupt’ and ‘Roach’ (UD always has interesting names to say the least).
The thing I love about these are that they’re super easy to use… they glide really easily and the pigmentation is on point. Thumbs up UD, these will always be a classic eyeliner go-to for me.
Liquid Lipsticks, y’all.
These babies stay on my lips forever, and the pigmentation/formulation of each is basically heaven.
Here are some other, more “summer-y” favorites.
My sister gave me this sunscreen as part of my birthday present… and IT HAS GLITTER IN IT. Plus, it smells like strawberries and I’m practically still a six year old so this is perfect for me. You can find it here for $18.95. Also, the company’s name is Glitter Tots… so this is totally for children, but whatever.
The next thing is Vanilla puff powder by Lush. Y’all, this stuff is a miracle worker during hot, humid summer days. When I bought it an employee said she used it while wearing skirts or dresses to prevent chafing… or for under-boob sweat (ladies, you already know).
The only thing is… this is no longer available (boo), but Lush does have other dusting powders like this one ($8.95) that smell like jasmine. I’m not sure if the vanilla scent was just seasonal, or if they’ve just completely discontinued.. if you know, let me know in the comments!

Thanks for checking this post out! Leave me a comment with some of your favorite products this past month, I’d love to hear about them!
Following tragic shootings of black men and women, I always see people on social media use the hashtag “all lives matter.” But that is an ignorant response.
Watch the video below. Warning, there is profanity… because I’m angry.
P.S. I’m not trying to say all people who use the hashtag don’t care about these tragedies… it’s just simply not how you should respond, and you need to educate yourself.
I’ve been thinking a lot about where to take this blog.
I started ‘Simply Me’ years ago… mostly to highlight my love of makeup and fashion, but I’ve always been pretty inconsistent because of other things going on at the time – whether it was school or work. I’ve brainstormed ways to figure out what I want to do… because my life is more than just clothes or Sephora.
I’ve realized I want this to become more of a lifestyle blog (sounds cliche, I know) because I have thoughts I want to share and moments I want to document rather than just always showing you what my favorite products are as of late – even though I like, and will do that that type of thing too.
Plus that was really the original point behind the name – ‘Simply Me’ is supposed to encapsulate everything I love and am.
I like sharing what’s on my mind because frankly, I’m an opinionated person. I don’t like to argue, I like to debate. I believe we’re never done learning… and if you think you are, you need to be schooled.
This past year alone I’ve learned more about the world, politics, and the kind of person I want to be in the mix… but that’s always evolving and I want to be able to document my experiences and views.
I guess all that to say, expect more than just fashion/beauty content on this blog… consistent posts… and more about my everyday life.
This is Simply Me. Welcome.
The moment that three-pointer by Kris Jenkins hit the basket… Villanova winning by a buzzer beater, I’m pretty sure the shriek I let out was deafening.
All the long nights working in a news room, win after win, carrying press conferences at 12am because I work for a 24-hour news station… all leading up to a devastating loss.
But it’s devastating for more reasons than me just being upset as a fan.
This season was a heart-felt, hard-fought journey. Brice, Marcus, Joel, and Roy earned the right to win a another National Championship for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill… my alma mater.
I’ve been cheering for Carolina since I was in elementary school, deciding at the age of 12 that my greatest goal (up to that point) would be to graduate from UNC… and I finally did it last year.
This past season, I saw the ability for this team to bring home yet another ‘ship title… their fantastic ability to communicate on and off the court, their loyalty to Williams. Win after win. Everything seemed to fall in place for Roy’s boys.
I think that’s why this loss hurts more than it probably should in the grand scheme of things.
This team deserved it… plus, it is always nice to brag that your team is the best.
But you know what? My team is the best. The way our UNC community came together to rally after the loss, the players’ classy response following the game, Roy’s obvious devastation for the upset of this particular team…
It’s kinda like Tar Heel magic. An acknowledgement that you’re all a part of something special.
Plus, c’mon – when you have Michael Jordan saying he’s proud of this team and that they made him proud to be a Tar Heel, you know you’ve got something extraordinary.
That why I’m proud to be a part of it, and why it’s always, always a good day to be a Tar Heel.
So, this loss is devastating – naturally. But I don’t doubt we’ll see another day when we can call our team National Champions… but until then, we as a whole are still winners and we’ll keep winning because that’s what Carolina does.
Signed, A Tar Heel.
I’m kinda obsessed with this subscription box thing, so naturally I wanted to give the Bulu Box a try.
You can choose between the original box and the weight loss box with 4-5 samples… I chose weight loss and found a coupon code for $10/3months (normally $10/box).
The great thing about this particular health-subscription box is that you fill out a survey and can indicate whether you have food allergies/restrictions (I checked practically every box).
Check out my video below for first-impressions of each product listed here:
